Both comic book geeks and journalists were buzzing about the latest issue of Superman today as his mild-mannered alter ego Clark Kent quits his job as a reporter for the Daily Planet.

In Superman #13, Kent gets chewed out by his boss Perry White for not having filed a story in a week. Kent gets philosophical about journalism, saying, "Why am I the one sounding like a grizzle ink-stained wretch who believes new should be about-- I don't know, news?"

"Times are changing and print is dying medium," says White.

OMG Clark Kent, thank you. #THANKYOU http://pic.twitter.com/ZRpXCKzkNMMan

But the journalism business being what it is, some in the media said that Kent would more likely be fired than quit.

Wouldn't it be more realistic for Clark Kent to be laid off from the Daily Planet, rather than quit? http://jimromenesko.com/2012/10/22/clark-kent-quits-the-daily-planet/Mike Madden

And it seems there's no shortage of journalists looking to fill Kent's spot, even if it means relocating to Metropolis.
