Teen Two and a Half Men actor sorry for criticism

Teen actor Angus T. Jones has apologized for blasting his TV comedy Two and a Half Men as "filth" and "inappropriate" in a series of interviews about his recent religious awakening.

Jones, 19, issued a statement late Tuesday apologizing to his colleagues on the somewhat suggestive CBS sitcom, on which he has appeared since the age of 10.

"I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed," he said. "I never intended that."

Jones, who reportedly makes $350,000 US an episode, portrays Jake Harper, the wisecracking son of the uptight character played by Emmy-winner Jon Cryer. In recent years, the young actor's role has been reduced after his character joined the army. However, he recently returned to appear alongside guest star Miley Cyrus.

Earlier this week, interviews emerged in which Jones described being drawn to religion and denounced the hit show that shot him to fame. CBS and show-runner Chuck Lorre declined comment.

The furor over Jones' behaviour even led Charlie Sheen, Two and a Half Men's notorious former star, to weigh in.

"With Angus's Hale-Bopp-like meltdown, it is radically clear to me that the show is cursed," Sheen, whose own outrageous public meltdown and feud with show creators led to his replacement by Ashton Kutcher, told People magazine.
