Joseph Michael Liu Roqueni plans to run from Montreal to the southernmost tip of Argentina, starting in May — and he'll be shoeless most of the way.
The Concordia University student has been training in earnest for his marathon run — without wearing shoes or socks — since last summer.
He started on a treadmill, then went running on pavement, and even in the snow.
Liu says it's a more natural way of running.
In addition, he says sneakers are too expensive and take up a lot of space in his bag.
The trek to the city of Ushuaia will cover about 19,000 kilometres, the equivalent of 266 marathons, in roughly two years.
