Giant alligator caught by Mississippi man

A record-breaking alligator was caught in Mississippi on Sunday, just hours into the annual state alligator hunt.

Dustin Bockman, a UPS driver from Vicksburg, Miss., caught the four-metre, 330-kilogram alligator in the Mississippi River — in the dark.

The gargantuan gator, a record size for Mississippi, took two hours to wrangle into the boat.

Bockman described his record-breaking catch in an interview with Carol Off on CBC's As It Happens — and explained what he plans to do with his kill.

"Probably make a lot of boots and wallets and stuff for all the people who helped me capture the alligator and all the people involved," said Bockman.
