Traffic along the Trans-Canada Highway in Eastern P.E.I. is slow going this weekend thanks to a 100-kilometre long yard sale happening in the southeastern part of the province.
The 70-Mile Coastal Yard Sale stretches from Kilmuir to Wood Islands and Orwell to Beach Point.
More than 150 vendors are set up along the highway hoping to sell items they no longer want to treasure hunters looking for a deal.
Sylvain De Lafontaine, organizer, said this is the biggest year yet in the yard sale's 16-year history.
He said more than 150 vendors paid $20 to be listed in a yard sale guidebook that tells people who is selling what, and where they're selling it. He said this year is a jump from the 120 vendors who signed up for the guidebook last year.
The two-day event draws tourists and vendors from all over the Maritimes, in what Fontaine said is a much-needed tourist boom for the region.
RCMP are warning motorists and pedestrians to respect the rules of the road. Police are asking people to slow down and watch out for pedestrians crossing the highway.
