Police in Yellowknife were not amused this morning when they received reports of a person hanging from a balcony, only to find a Halloween decoration.
"It looked real enough that someone called the police,' says RCMP Cst. Elenore Sturko.
Instead of a person in distress, first responders found an effigy hanging in a noose suspended from a hangman's post, a press release says.
The person who had put up the decoration said it was for a party.
It's since been taken down.
"This is a good time to remind the public to keep safety in mind this Halloween," says Sturko.
"Now that the snow and ice are here it's important to drive with caution and watch out for children who may be wearing costumes, and could be distracted by seasonal decorations."
RCMP say they'll have extra members on duty on Halloween night with a focus on traffic enforcement.
