If you're in the market for a log castle, you're in luck.
A 9,000 sq. ft. log home built with salvaged old growth cedar logs is for sale in Big White, B.C. for a cool $9.2 million.
The log cabin was built in 2012 by Pioneer Log Homes, the Williams Lake, B.C. company featured in the popular HGTV reality show Timber Kings.
According to realtor Justin O'Connor with Sotheby's International Realty one of the owners' grandfathers used to build castles in Germany and they ordered the home as a custom build.
"They wanted to build a Christmas village castle that would light up the slopes of Big White," says O'Connor. "They wanted something that would be around for generations."
The recovered cedar logs range in age between 500 and 1,800 years old, said O'Connor. He says it took 27 logging trucks to ship them from Williams Lake, where the house was built, before it was shipped to its final destination.
The home only has four bedrooms, but O'Connor says the master suite is 1,400 sq. ft.
He says the owners are selling the home because they travel around the world and don't get to spend much time at the custom-built cabin.
O'Connor says given the home's proximity to Kelowna, B.C. which has direct flights to key U.S. destinations, he expects it will have a lot of interest.
